The relatively recent history of the estate, the beginnings of Dehesa de los Canónigos as a winery and life project of the Sanz Cid family is intimately related to the pine forest located in the vicinity of the Douro River and the G-14 path, which runs along the border of the Dehesa.
In 1931 the farm fell into the hands of the ancestors of the current owner, Mari Luz Cid, but in the 60s her family was forced to sell it. She was devastated to lose part of her childhood and carved on a tree “Dehesa, dear, when will I see you again?” When Luis Sanz Busto discover this in 1969, he abandoned his medical studies to buy back Dehesa de los Canónigos.
‘La Dehesa al natural’ allows a connection with the farm, its surroundings, the ecosystem, by back which can be rented locally. You can do a bike tour from Castilla Thermal Monasterio de Valbuena to the winery.
